American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) will be revamped over the next few months and aligned with a major US university. An announcement is expected soon. We expect to award university bonus points to top award winners as well as US university scholarships. Singapore International Math Contests Centre (SIMCC) and International Scholastic Trust (IST) will partner with a US university to donate US$1 for each AMO participant to fund scholarships for top SIMCC and AMO winners.

AMO is open to all Year 2 to 13 (Primary 2 to A-Levels/STPM) Malaysian students.

All Malaysian students who have won Gold/ Silver/ Bronze Award in AMO 2019 will be invited to join SIMOC (Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge) in Singapore. Malaysian students who have won Gold/ Silver Award will be invited to join STEAM AHEAD 2020: IJMO (International Junior Math Olympiad) in Bali, Indonesia. Contest entry is available on a first come first served basis, so register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

History

Created in 1977 by Dr. George Lenchner, an internationally known math educator, the Math Olympiads (MOEMS) went public in 1979. Last year, nearly 150,000 students from 6,000 teams worldwide participated in the Olympiads. All 50 states in US and about 30 other countries were represented.
