KMC 2018 Intensive Schedule

TeamMathicians’ Achievement in KMC 2016 & 2017

5 Grand Prix awards, 29 Golds, 29 Silvers and 23 Bronzes in KMC 2016
3 Grand Prix awards, 26 Golds, 42 Silvers and 30 Bronzes in KMC 2017

These consistent results have PROVEN that TeamMathics Maths Enrichment Programme (TM-MEP) and KMC Intensive Programme are effective in helping students tackle challenges in school maths exam and Kangaroo Math Competition. With the Effectiveness of CPA Teaching in Developing HOTS, our coaches can always help students achieve better results, either in school ranking, national ranking or global ranking. The ultimate goal is, we aim to train all TeamMathicians to improve their Depth of Knowledge (DOK) in mathematical problem solving and nurture generations of creative problem solvers!

Kangaroo Math Competition (KMC) is an annual international math competition for primary and secondary school students.

In the early 1980s, Peter O’Holloran, a math teacher at Sydney, started a math competition in Australian schools. The competition was in multiple choice format, which meant that thousands of pupils could participate at the same time. The contest, which was known as the Australian Mathematical National Contest, was a tremendous success.

In 1991, two French teachers, André Deledicq and Jean Pierre Boudine, decided to start a competition in France under the name “Kangaroo” (or Kangourou in French) to pay tribute to their Australian friends. In the first edition, 120,000 students took part. In the first few years, the contest grew until more than 20 European countries participated. The countries jointly formed the Association Kangourou sans Frontieres (AKSF), which in English means the Association of Kangaroo Without Borders.

Fast forward to 2013, Malaysia was unanimously elected to join the AKSF, at the annual AKSF meeting in Protaras Beach, Cyprus. Mr. Suhaimi Ramly was appointed as the country representative. Mr. Suhaimi is the coach for the national team to the International Mathematical Olympiad since 2007, and has been active with organizing many mathematics camps and competitions in the country.

AIMO & SIMOC 2017 Intensive

TeamMathicians’ Achievement in SIMOC & AIMO 2016

More than 100 Malaysian students took part in SIMOC and AIMO last year. Of these, about one third are TeamMathics students who bagged 8 Gold, 10 Silver, 19 Bronze and 16 Merit awards. Well done, TeamMathicians!

TeamMathics is the official Exclusive Training Partner for AMO, SASMO, SIMOC and AIMO. It is our aim in this capacity, to help potential students build their strategic planning and proving skills – knowledge meant for solving super challenging non-routine questions in Maths Olympiad competitions.

This year, TeamMathics will conduct:
(i) SIMOC Intensive in April-May and
(ii) AIMO Intensive in June-July

SIMOC Intensive

(Classes commence in April’17)

Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) is a unique concept of mathematics competition which not only tests your ability to solve mathematical problems on pen and paper but also tests your ability to work as a team to play interactive mathematical games and solve puzzles. SIMOC gives you an opportunity to compete with top mathematical talents from around the world and learn from each other as a team. Individual and team recognition awards are up for grabs. 15 countries took part in SIMOC 2016.

SIMOC consists of three categories for Year 2-11 participants: one individual written Math Olympiad Contest and two team-based challenges – the Maths Warriors Competition and Mind Sports Challenge.

SIMOC is open to Year 2-11 Malaysian students who have won Gold, Silver and Bronze awards (individual category) in SASMO.

July 14-17 (Fri-Mon): SIMOC 2017 @ Singapore

AIMO Intensive

(Classes commence in June’17)

Asia International Mathematical Olympiad Open Contest (AIMO) is an international platform for students to improve their critical thinking skills and exchange knowledge. It also aims to promote educational and cultural development. For the last 5 years, AIMO Open has been successfully concluded (2012 @ Hong Kong, 2013 @ Taiwan, 2014 @ Chengdu, China, 2015 @ Thailand, 2016 @ Hong Kong). Since 2012, the number of students participating in AIMO Open has been increasing.  They are the elites in mathematics from 13 countries or regions of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan.

AIMO is open to Year 3-11 Malaysian students who win Gold, Silver or Bronze awards (individual category) in SASMO. Year 12-13/ STPM/ A-Levels students who do well in other maths competitions/ Olympiads are also invited to participate.
