(Classes commence in Oct’19)

*Available in Subang Jaya

Welcome to Singapore Math Global Team Challenge (Singa), where teams share best practices in mathematics learning and gauge how good they are at maths. Singa 2019 is set to run in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam from November 22 and 26. Are you ready for the Challenge? ๐Ÿ™‚

Singa is Singapore Math Global Team Competition with 3 members from different countries in each team. It is a unique new math competition with ambitious and important goals. The focus in Singa is very strong on teamwork, and the Gold-winning groups will have to show high levels of collaboration, stamina and mutual support โ€“ as well as superlative math skills. Questions in the competition will be based on Singapore schoolsโ€™ maths questions which have a high content of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Named after the lion in the name of Singapore itself, Singa will also be brave, tough and noble: a thrilling team challenge that equips children everywhere for 21st Century learning.

Singa is an international team and individual-based maths competition. It is open to all students from Year 1 to 11 (Standard 1 to Form 5) who have scored a High Distinction/ Distinction/ High Credit in Depth of Knowledge Assessment (DOKA) or Gold/ Silver/ Bronze  in Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO).

Just like playing football. If we want to play well, we go for training, we go for tournaments/competitions. Then, we improve and get better at it.

Just like the former Professor who commented in Quora below; Mathematics CAN be a hobby!

Just like Martin Gardner's well-known recreational maths problems. The problems he created were designed to get us thinking, as he noted many people do not like to think. He believes that humans are terrific at thinking when we choose to do so, it is just that people find it easier not to.

The problems that Gardner made does not need extensive expertise to come up with a "solution" for them. We just need logic, and common sense.

Here's a famous problem from Mr. Gardner:

Again, once you see the answer, you will be surprised by its simplicity. There is a very simple mathematical principle at play in this problem. You can also solve this problem with your child using actual socks!

Enjoy Learning Maths!
